Customized Fabrication Approach for Hypertrophic Scar Treatment: 3D Printed Fabric Silicone Composite
2020
Hypertrophic scars (HS) are considered to be the greatest unmet challenge in wound and burn rehabilitation. The most common treatment for HS is pressure therapy, but pressure garments may not be able to exert adequate pressure onto HS due to the complexity of the human body.
Design and development of age-friendly bras
2020
Much like the rest of the developed world, Hong Kong is an aging society, which means that the older population is increasing dramatically. In comparison to younger adults, older adults are more financially comfortable and tend to invest more in themselves. One of the groups of older adults who are also a unique group of consumers are older women, particularly in terms of bras.
Instrumental evaluation of dry heat loss of footwear under different activity levels
2019
An extreme microclimate inside footwear contributes to wear discomfort and performance impairment. A thermal foot manikin system was developed to evaluate the thermal insulation of footwear. The uniqueness of this foot manikin is that it utilizes a specially designed all-in-one flexible heating sheet with uneven distribution of resistive wires to achieve a non-uniform gradient temperature distribution along the foot surface.
Optimization method for the determination of Mooney-Rivlin material coefficients of the human breasts in-vivo using static and dynamic finite element models
2019
It has been a long-standing problem in the engineering design of bra for optimal support and shaping due to the difficulty of quantifying the hyper-elastic properties of human breasts. The objective of this study is to determine an optimal approach to obtain the non-linear properties of breast soft tissues and the corresponding deformations during motions.
The craft-art: form ‘SPARK: the Science and Art of Creativity’ to ‘Art Central’, Central Harbourfront, Hong Kong, 26-30 March 2019
2019
Technology has initiated a new era in art and craft. SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity was organized for the first time by the British Council in January with the collaboration of over 200 artists, scientists and academics from Hong Kong and the United Kingdom celebrating creativity across the arts, sciences and education.
Influence of textured indoor footwear on posture stability of older women based on center of pressure measurements
2019
The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of indoor footwear with a textured surface to improve control of balance and reduce excessive plantar pressure in older women.
