3D printed auxetic heel pads for patients with diabetic mellitus
2022
Diabetic insoles are currently the mainstay in reducing the risk of foot ulcers by reducing the magnitude of the pressure on the plantar Here, we propose a novel pressure relieving heel pad based on a circular auxetic re-entrant honeycomb structure by using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology to minimize the pressure on the heel, thus reducing the occurrence of foot ulcers.
Analysis of dynamic vertical breast displacement for the design of seamless moulded bras
2021
Traditional breast displacement studies included human subjects and maintaining result consistency is restricted by biomechanical limitations. This study proposes an objective approach that investigates the effects of various bra features on breast support during movement by conducting a wear trial with the VICON motion capture system.
Finite element analysis on contact pressure and 3D breast deformation for application in women’s bras
2021
A well-fitting bra provides adequate and exceptional support of the breasts and the desirable body shape for the wearer but would not exert excessive pressure onto the breasts. Among the different design features of bras, the materials selected for the bra cups are a key element for enhancing breast support and improving the perceived comfort.
Influence of inlaid material, yarn and knitted structure on the net buoyant force and mechanical properties of inlaid knitted fabric for buoyant swimwear
2021
Buoyant swimwear is becoming more common in recreational swimming use, so the performance of buoyant fabric is important when designing functional swimwear. In this study, potential buoyant inlaid knitted fabrics for buoyant swimwear are investigated.
Design of novel buoyant swimming vest using inlay knitting technology
2021
The use of children’s buoyant swimwear has become more common. However, its bulkiness and hardness restrict the wearer’s movement. For better fit, comfort and mobility, a knitted buoyant swimming vest is developed.
A novel bespoke hypertrophic scar treatment: actualizing hybrid pressure and silicone therapies with 3d printing and scanning
2021
The treatment of hypertrophic scars (HSs) is considered to be the most challenging task in wound rehabilitation. Conventional silicone sheet therapy has a positive effect on the healing process of HSs. However, the dimensions of the silicone sheet are typically larger than those of the HS itself which may negatively impact the healthy skin that surrounds the HS.
