Design and development of age-friendly bras

This project aimed to design age-friendly bras using biomechanical analysis of the contacts between old women’s body and bra. New 3D body scanning methods was developed to capture the ptotic breast in a forwarding leaning posture. During ageing, women’s breasts will tend to sag and they may have difficulty to turn their arms to fasten the bra at the back. They hate wires and dislike pressure around their bodies. Comfort breast support is crucial for the old women to enjoy active ageing. By adopting systimetic design methods, a series of bras was developed based on older women’s psychological and physical needs.
