GSUN Summit ‘24

Programme

The project leaders have participated in GSUN Summit ’24 held at University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. A panel titled “Innovations in Sportswear, Wearable Technology and Training Equipment for Enhanced Athletic Performance and Well-Being” was held by our porject team. The panel has explored the latest advancements in sustainable materials for sports apparel, ergonomic design, the development of ergonomic activewear with performance-enhancing features that supports athletic movement and reduces the risk of injury, integrated wearable technology and training equipment that collectively contribute to an athlete’s competitive edge and well-being. Four topics have been presented, including Improving activewear design: incorporating dynamic movements & biomechanical research,
Biomechanical study of high-performance legwear on single-leg landing, 3D biomechanical model with soft tissue deformation for leggings design and evaluation and Advancements in athletic training: integrating split treadmill with RGB-D sensor technology for enhanced performance analysis. Participants from worldwide Universities and companies have also been participated in the Summit to discussing and identifying current issues, research and solutions in inclusivity in sport performance, including Kathryn Ackerman, Harvard Medical School; Jennifer Langton, former senior VP of Player Health and Innovation at the National Football League; Haskell Beckham, VP Innovation, Columbia Sportswear; Jo Maher, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Sport and Professor of Practice in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, Loughborough University; Jordan Troester, Director, Performance and Sports Science, University of Oregon and John Cairney, Head of School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, University of Queensland.
